EuroTra-CIECA event on Directive 2003/59, September 14, Brussels

The implementation and application of EU Directive 2003/59 on the initial qualification and periodic training of professional drivers of category C and D vehicles has – and remains – a major challenge for CIECA members and other organisations in this sector.
With this in mind, EuroTra (European Transport Training Association and associate member of CIECA) is organising an event on September 14th in Brussels. Over the last 2 years, EuroTra has been developing recommendations on initial training, qualification and ongoing training requirements for such professional drivers in the framework of the SAFE EU Driver Project. The event will be used to present these recommendations and for networking amongst representatives from EU member states. The European Commission will also attend.

Further details regarding programme content and registration for the event are on EuroTra’s website at www.eurotra.eu and on www.cieca.be/ciecaeventsfuture_en.pp

NOTE: To coincide with the above event, CIECA is also trying to organise a pre-meeting with the European Commission on the day before: September 13th (16.00-18.00). The purpose of this informal meeting will be to exchange questions, concerns and ideas regarding the implementation of the directive. This meeting is subject to confirmation but all CIECA members interested in participating are kindly requested to contact Daniel Vandenberghe at daniel.vandenberghe@cieca.be
