The CIECA Fit to Drive Permanent Advisory Group is pleased to announce an upcoming webinar linked to its recently published report, “Recommendations on National Implementation: Health and Driving Aspects of the Fourth Driving Licence Directive”.
The Fourth EU Driving Licence Directive (Nov. 2025) introduced a number of significant changes relating to medical fitness to drive, including routine medical screening at licence application and renewal, attention to education of the professions and public on the topic of medical fitness to drive as well as a focus on alcohol use disorders and the potential of technology such as alcohol ignition interlocks. The Permanent Group on Fitness to Drive of CIECA includes a range of expertise on the matter and has prepared a guide on how emerging research and practice in healthcare, psychology and road safety can assist in effective implementation of the medical aspects of the Directive. This workshop will present the findings of this guide and facilitate discussion on the optimal paths to implementation of these aspects of the Directive
