CIECA is very happy to invite all CIECA Members to attend our 3rd CIECA Education Workshop focused on the use of simulators for driver training. This workshop has been organized by the Education Topical Group (ETG) and with the kind assistance of Ediser, one of our Associated members (also a member of the ETG). The workshop will focus on the Use of simulators in driver training, and it will take place in the Hotel Oceania Le Métropole Montpellier (3 rue Clos René, 34000 Montpellier).
The use of driving simulators for developing driving skills is on the rise, and in many European countries, simulators are used in a number of driving schools. These tools help learner drivers to learn fundamental driving skills before they start driving on real traffic. The aim of this workshop is to discuss the latest research in the use of simulators and explore their potential role in the improvement of road safety. The workshop will also deal with the potential didactical qualities of such equipment and how their new technical capabilities can be adapted for training purposes. Further particulars on the content of the workshop will be provided by the end of September 2025.
The discussions will focus on the following issues:
- What is the latest research on the topic of the use of simulators for driver training?
- What are the implications of the use of simulators for road safety?
- What are the advantages of driver training using simulators?
- What type of pedagogical tools are there to develop relevant training materials?
- What kind of skills can best be trained with the aid of the latest simulators?
- Would the development of a syllabus for the use of simulators be of interest for CIECA members?
